What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is the study of reflexes.

Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from this study based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that map neurologically to other parts, glands, and organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology therapy can:

  • – relieve tension;

  • – improve circulation and;

  • – support the body’s efforts to function optimally.

The most common applications of reflexology map the whole body to reflexes found in specific areas, like the feet, hands or ears.

Reflexology helps to manage many common ailments such as:

  1. Musculoskeletal pain

  2. Insomnia

  3. Anxiety

  4. Stress; and

  5. Hormonal and digestive issues to name a few.

Unlike other therapies which manipulate bones or muscle tissues, Reflexology can provide much needed relief through working the body reflex that ails you on a part of the body that does not.

How can reflexology help you?

The body has the ability to heal itself.  Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of “imbalance” and vital body systems can be blocked, preventing the body from functioning optimally.  Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural balance and facilitate healing.  For each person, the application and the effect of the therapy are unique.  Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances and by working on these points, the Reflexology Therapist can release blockages.

Reflexology is one of the safest and least invasive alternative therapeutic practices available. You do not have to remove your clothing and it treats the entire body.

Reflexology and Stress

Using our bodies and minds creates tension.  Problems occur when we do not release these tensions regularly.  By gently working the “reflex points” on specific areas of the body, reflexology induces a state of relaxation that release tension, helps to increase blood flow to the extremities, slows down heart rate, and decrease blood pressure.

For clients suffering from stress-related illnesses, reflexology provides patients with a clinically proven method to reduce stress and anxiety without the use of drugs, helping clients avoid unpleasant side effects.

For those looking for a natural therapy to relieve stress and anxiety, reflexology is the solution.

Who can benefit from Reflexology?

Everyone!  Reflexology has been successfully applied to people of all ages.Pressure and length of sessions may be modified based on age, and the health history of the client.  A typical session usually lasts approximately 45-60 minutes. Reflexology is a truly remarkable, non-invasive treatment for every with many positive benefits.
